Home page :  Home page or the index page is the starting point which in turn leads the user to the Table of Contents page or the Overview page. An animated text appears which says “Computer Programming using Java”. This animation is created using Coffeecup FireStarter.

 

Site Overview:  This is an introductory page. Provides a rationale for the web site.

 

 

Mini lectures:  Includes brief lectures on the basics of computer programming

·        Lecture 1: Java basics- (created with Impatica)

·        Lecture 2: Variables in Java (created with PPT2Flash)

·        Lecture 3: Object oriented concepts in Java (created with PhotoStory)

 

Lesson plan:  Includes activities to learn the fundamental skills of Java programming. The activities incorporate hypermedia to achieve learning goals.

·        Lesson plan 1: Writing your first Java program –  Activity 1

·        Lesson plan 2: Numbering system. Includes a link to an internal page that converts numbers. The converter is created using Javascript kit. – Activity 2

 

 

Tutorials: The tutorials guide students with a step-by-step approach to understand the basics.

 

·        Tutorial 1: Walks through a paper based tutorial in creating arrays.

·        Tutorial 2: Explains the specifics of bubble sort algorithm. Here is an excellent applet written by Prof David Eck, in his book The Most Complex Machine, (David Eck, May 1998, March 2000, and June 2004)

 

 

 

Podcast: The page contains embedded audio player explaining some basics of programming, and is ADA compliant.

Image map:  Image map has been created using PowerPoint and Macromedia DreamWeaver . This page assists in getting around the site, with each link sequentially ordered.  The page is created using Coffee Cup’s Image Mapper 4.0

 

 

 

 

Video simulation:  There are several web pages on this site that use video simulation techniques. Some videos have been created with MS Photostory, while others have been created using Adobe Captivate
